1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Pixonex IT ("we", "our", or "us") handles information in relation to the GDrive Folder Size Chrome browser extension ("the Extension"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being fully transparent about how our software operates.
Short version: GDrive Folder Size does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, file contents, or usage information. Everything happens locally inside your browser. We have zero visibility into your Google Drive.
By installing and using the Extension, you agree to the terms described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the Extension from your browser.
2. Data We Collect
We do not collect any data. The table below summarizes what is and isn't accessed:
| Data Type | Accessed? | Stored? | Sent to Server? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your name or Google account identity | No | No | No |
| File names or folder names | Local only | No | No |
| File contents or documents | No | No | No |
| Drive storage size (calculated value) | Local only | No | No |
| Browsing history or activity | No | No | No |
| Cookies or authentication tokens | No | No | No |
| Device information or IP address | No | No | No |
| Analytics or crash reports | No | No | No |
The Extension temporarily reads metadata (such as file sizes) from the currently open Google Drive page in your browser tab. This data is used only to compute and display the folder/drive size in the popup. It is never written to disk, sent externally, or logged in any way.
3. Permissions Used
The Extension requests a minimal set of Chrome permissions. Here is exactly what each permission is used for and why it is necessary:
activeTab
Allows the Extension to interact with the currently active Google Drive tab. This permission
is required to read the folder structure and file metadata displayed on the page.
The Extension only activates on drive.google.com.
scripting
Enables the Extension to inject a small script into the Google Drive page that traverses the DOM to collect file size metadata. No external scripts are loaded — all code is bundled locally within the extension package.
storage
Used exclusively to remember your UI preferences (such as which Google account you last selected using "Switch Google Account"). No personal data or Drive content is stored here. This data lives only in your local browser and is never synced or transmitted.
💡 The Extension does not request broad host permissions, identity permissions, Google OAuth tokens, or access to any other websites. It is intentionally scoped to the minimum required functionality.
4. How It Works (Technical Summary)
For full transparency, here is a technical description of how the Extension operates:
- When you click the Extension icon, a popup is opened in your browser.
- The popup communicates with a content script injected into the active Google Drive tab.
- The content script reads file/folder metadata already rendered on the page — it does not make additional API calls to Google on your behalf.
- File size values are summed in memory and the total is displayed in the popup UI.
- Once the popup is closed, all computed data is discarded from memory. Nothing is persisted.
- The Extension never contacts Pixonex IT servers or any external server for any reason.
⚠️ Note: If you see a "Please close this popup and reopen it after switching folders" message, this is because the Extension needs to re-scan the current folder view. No data was lost — simply close and reopen the popup.
5. Third-Party Services
Google Drive
The Extension operates inside Google Drive (drive.google.com), which is a
service provided by Google LLC. Your use of Google Drive is subject to
Google's Privacy Policy
and Terms of Service. Pixonex IT is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or responsible for
Google's data practices.
Chrome Web Store
When you install the Extension from the Chrome Web Store, Google may collect standard installation statistics (install counts, update checks). This is governed by Google's policies, not ours. We do not receive any personally identifiable information from the Chrome Web Store.
Donation Platforms
Our website contains links to voluntary donation platforms (Buy Me a Coffee, Supportkori, and bank transfer). These are entirely optional and unrelated to the Extension's functionality. If you choose to donate, you will be interacting with those third-party platforms directly and their respective privacy policies will apply.
The Extension itself does not embed any tracking scripts, analytics SDKs, advertisement networks, or third-party libraries that communicate over the network.
6. Children's Privacy
The Extension is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed at children under the age of 13. Since we do not collect any personal data from any users, this policy applies equally to all age groups.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us. However, as we collect no data, there is nothing for us to delete on our end.
7. Security
Because the Extension does not transmit, store, or process personal data on any external system, traditional data-breach scenarios do not apply. Your Drive data never leaves your own browser session.
We follow secure development practices for the extension codebase:
- All extension code is bundled locally — no remote code execution or dynamic script loading.
- The Extension uses the minimum necessary permissions as mandated by Chrome's Manifest V3 standards.
- The source code is available for review, ensuring full transparency.
- We regularly review and update the Extension for security and compatibility.
✓ GDrive Folder Size is built on Chrome Manifest V3, Google's latest and most secure extension standard, which enforces stricter permission controls and eliminates remote code injection.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Extension's functionality or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
- Note the change in the Extension's update release notes on the Chrome Web Store.
- Post an announcement on the Pixonex IT website where applicable.
Your continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
9. Your Rights
Since we do not collect any personal data, there is no data profile to access, correct, export, or delete. However, you always retain full control:
- Uninstall at any time: Go to
chrome://extensionsand remove the Extension. All locally stored preferences (if any) will be deleted automatically. - Clear local storage: You can clear the Extension's local storage via Chrome's developer tools at any time.
- Revoke permissions: You can review and revoke the Extension's permissions from
chrome://extensionswithout uninstalling it. - GDPR / CCPA: As no personal data is collected, processed, or stored by Pixonex IT, there are no GDPR or CCPA obligations to fulfil on our end. Nevertheless, we respect these frameworks in spirit.
